Longley Farm staff raise over £4000 for Kirkwood Hospice
In 2019, members of staff at Longley Farm voted for local charity Kirkwood Hospice as our Charity of the Year. Over the course of the year, staff raised money by selling raffle tickets, bake sales, a sponsored walk and other fundraising events such as a summer BBQ and Christmas party.
Delighted at the effort put into their Charity of the Year scheme and because of personal knowledge of the work of the Hospice, Longley Farm owner, Jimmy Dickinson, also match funded the amount raised.
“My mother helped out for many years in the Holmfirth shop and for at least thirty years, my father saved stamps for them. A strong memory is of a Saturday morning job, trimming round the edges and counting them up in batches of a hundred. As a business, we’re still doing it.”
Kirkwood Fundraising Manager, Beverley Shaw, is delighted to see the ongoing relationship with Longley Farm continue.
Beverley said: “Longley Farm is a long-established family business in the Kirklees community and it’s wonderful to see their support in 2019 resulting in such a fantastic amount raised for Kirkwood.
“This amazing amount could fund 18 home visits from a Kirkwood Community Nurse in the Holme Valley. It was a pleasure to meet the team at Longley Farm and thank them all personally.”
