The Great Yorkshire Show 2015
Longley Farm products have gone down well with the judges at the Great Yorkshire Show for many years now, and this year was no different, as we walked away with a string of fantastic results at this year's Cheese and Dairy Show.
Longley Farm Jersey Extra Rich Cream came out as favourite, winning Reserve Supreme Champion Dairy Product, Best Chilled Product and Best Channel Island Cream. The judges described it as "Gorgeous with yellow colour, smooth, fresh and unctuous. Great example of Channel Island Cream."
We also had a clean sweep of the Cultured Cream class; Longley Farm Crème Fraîche won bronze, Soured Cream won silver and the delicious Crème Fraîche Lemon & Ginger claimed gold as the judges said it "Stood out from the rest of the category"
Longley's Ice Cream made a storming début at this year's show. Our Vanilla Ice Cream blew the competition out of the water in the Plain Vanilla category: a group that is notoriously challenging as it lays bare the very essence of the ice cream, leaving no opportunity to hide behind additives and flavours. The judge described it as the "Best vanilla flavour, not too sweet" with a "Good smooth, creamy texture". Our fruit ice creams also did well, with Blackcurrant winning silver in the Fruit Flavour category and Raspberry winning bronze.
It was another good year for Longley Farm yogurt with our Blackcurrant Yogurt receiving gold in the Flavoured Whole Milk Yogurt category, described by the judges as "A clear winner, perfect for starting your day" with a "Full on fruit flavour with a great balance of acidity". Blueberry took silver in the Dessert Yogurt category and in the Flavoured Low Fat Yogurt group, Strawberry & Rhubarb won silver and Gooseberry took Bronze.
