Served hot and fresh with our Jersey Butter, these will go like hot cakes!
227g (½ lb) plain flour
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
58g (2 oz) caster sugar
58g (2 oz) sultanas
Sieve the flour, salt and bicarbonate of soda.
Rub in the butter to make fine crumbs, then add the sugar and sultanas.
Mix in the buttermilk to make a stiff dough.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface, roll out to ¼ inch (0.6cm) thick and cut into rounds.
Bake on a moderately heated griddle or a heavy based frying pan.
Turn when golden brown.
