Perfect Bread Sauce
Bread sauce is deeply nostalgic with warmth, subtle spices, and silky texture. This recipe elevates tradition with Longley Farm's Jersey single cream and luxury Jersey butter. The result is a velvety, flavourful sauce perfect for roast chicken, turkey, or festive feasts.
Ingredients:
- 60g of Longley Farm luxury Jersey butter (10g separated)
- 250ml of Longley Farm Jersey single cream
- 250ml of Milk
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 1tsp of thyme
- 1tsp of ground clove
- 1/4 tsp of nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp of peppercorns
- 2 bay leaves
- 100g of bread crumbs
Method:
- Add all of the ingredients apart from the breadcrumbs, 1 bay leaf and 10g of butter to a large saucepan and place over medium heat.
- Simmer for 15 minutes stirring occasionally - do not allow the mixture to bubble.
- Strain the cream mixture into a large jug and discard the solids.
- Pour the infused cream mixture back into the empty pan and place back on the heat.
- Stir in the breadcrumbs and simmer for 2-3 minutes or until you have a slightly lumpy sauce.
- Take off the heat and stir in the remaining butter and season to taste.
- Serve in a jug and garnish with a bay leaf (optional). Enjoy!
Can be cooled and stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
