Honley Show 2015

This year we were very excited to be involved in the Honley Show, not only as a sponsor of the refreshment tent but also by bringing along two of our very own Jersey Calves to the delight of some of the younger (and older) visitors to the show.

DeloresWith torrential rain forecast for the Saturday we were a bit worried about the weather, but after a bit of light drizzle in the morning the sun came out for a beautiful afternoon.

At just 10 weeks old it was the calves' first public outing and they made the most of it, happy to be the centre of attention.

Visitors were invited to guess their names for a chance to win £25 to spend at Longley Farm, with money raised going to Macmillan. By the end of the day we raised £100 for Macmillan, and two lucky winners correctly guessed Delores and Rossetta as the calves' names.

As well as the real calves we also had our Calamity Cow book on sale, with the artist and author Doctor Simpo signing copies. The book is based on the original short film featured at the Holmfirth Film Festival this year, and is a mad cow caper as clumsy calamity tries to make her favourite dessert.

A group of 10 from Longley Farm also enjoyed a delicious dinner at the president's lunch, with views overlooking the main ring with everything from cheerleaders, to tractors to beagles.
