Golden Jersey's

Our Jersey Extra Rich Cream is frequently awarded at the Great Yorkshire Show. In 2017 it was for its golden hue.

Did you know that the yellow colour in our cream and butter comes from the grass the cows eat?

Beta-carotene is the yellow colour pigment that makes the Jersey milk that golden colour. The cows get most of their vitamin A from the carotene in the pastures they are grazing. Part of the carotene comes back out in the milk, unchanged. This is why our cream and butter look more yellow.

You may notice that our product’s colour varies over the year, this is because in the spring and summer the cows are out at grass. In the winter when the cows are inside eating hay, the milk is least yellow.
